- About Me:
- Currently I head knowledge strategy for ThoughtWorks.
I was earlier a social software consultant working for TCS.
I have been working on “knowledge management” and enterprise collaboration for the past 9 years and have come to realize that trying to manage knowledge is a complex affair. While enterprises continue to spend money on getting their KM systems right which usually suffer from low adoption, employees continue to flock to collaborative tools that “work” - tools that help them get things done -Tools like Google Docs, Basecamp,Meebo etc., which are sneaking into firewalls. While it is debatable if Social software will transform enterprises, it is definitely a breath of fresh air.
I have come to believe that grand enterprise KM strategies fail - There is little sense trying to start with a KM strategy that aligns with your balanced score card while ignoring personal productivity - there is little sense saying enterprise first and the individual next. Social software and the idea of personal knowledge management have transformed the way I work.
