No doubt that IP plays a crucial role in todays fast emerging technological developments. but the issue is whether India is rightly focused on IP to protect its indigenous knowledge, still remains a question.

IP plays a crucial role in KM in any industry. Since every piece of knowledge follows some type of maturation cycle and KM goes through a life cycle, identification and creation of IP becomes a very agile process. Any knowledge process when followed and implemented properly in any organization generates significant amount of knowledge, thus building an impetus towards creating IP. These knowledge processes must take into account the culture of the organization, and a process to identify, create, capture, update, and access the knowledge. In addition, the process should have a mechanism of dissipating underutilized or ineffective knowledge.
